Warden: Hunter shoots herself in foot

SIDNEY — The Maine Warden Service says a woman in Sidney has shot herself in the right foot while hunting.
Authorities said 35-year-old Stacey Badillo of Sidney was in her first year of hunting using an apprentice license. She was hunting with four others Wednesday afternoon off Route 27 in the woods when the accident happened.
Badillo told Game Warden Steve Allarie that she was resting the barrel of her 20-gauge shotgun, which was loaded with buckshot, on her boot while standing still. She said she placed the barrel on her foot, but she did not recall if her hand or fingers touched the trigger.
The gun went off, and the shot went directly through Badillo's boot and exited her right foot.
She was treated at a hospital for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
