Vote on ferry rate hike delayed

PORTLAND — Casco Bay Lines Board of Directors delayed voting today on controversial proposals to increase ferry rates as much as 14 percent to cover rising costs and lower ridership, said Kevin Donoghue, a Portland city councilor who is a member of the ferry board.

The board will hold a workshop on Tuesday at 7:45 a.m., followed by various board and committee meetings on Wednesday and Thursday.

The ferry serves the islands of Casco Bay, including Peaks, Great Diamond, Little Diamond, Cliff and Chebeague.
