Maine State Police say they are investigating the deaths of a husband and wife found shot to death in their home in the seaside town of Old Orchard Beach as a murder-suicide.
Sgt. Chris Harriman said a family friend found 55-year-old Bruce Savoy and 50-year-old Stacey Savoy inside their Pleasant Street home shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday. Nobody heard gunshots, but police think Bruce Savoy shot his wife late Monday afternoon and then shot himself, according to state Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland.
Bruce Savoy wrote three suicide notes that were found by police inside the house, McCausland said. The notes cited the pending breakup of the couple's 20-year marriage. The Savoys did not have children.
Bruce Savoy was the assistant code enforcement officer in Wells and also worked part time as a Wells police officer. McCausland said Savoy had previously worked as a full-time police officer for the towns of Wells and Old Orchard Beach. He served as an animal control officer in both towns, and Savoy and his wife were active members in a statewide canine search and rescue team, McCausland said.
Stacey Savoy was a vice president at Unum, police said.
McCausland said investigators believe Bruce Savoy shot his wife after she returned home from the grocery store. A handgun was recovered beside the bodies, which were taken to the state Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta.

I remember this guy from my volunteering days. He worked at Sweetser Children's Home in Saco for a long time. Sorry to hear about his wife.
God bless Stacey and Bruce.
God bless Stacey and Bruce. Good people, very good people.

Avflyer: Are you kidding me? Bruce killed Stacey! How can you refer to him as "good people?" He was obviousely very controlling otherwise he would not have taken her life and just done away with himself! You need to talk to the people who work in domestic violence, perhaps your outlook on him will change.
