Standish man arrested on drug charges

STANDISH – A 25-year-old was arrrested Thursday for allegedly dealing in heroin and cocaine.

John Reed was arrested about 10 p.m. at his house on Fort Hill Road by Cumberland County sheriff's deputies and officers from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency. The officers seized four grams of heroin, worth about $2,500, and two grams of cocaine, worth about $3,000, said Sgt. Bob Doherty, a Portland police officer assigned to the MDEA.

Doherty said the MDEA received tips that Reed's house was the location for drug activity because of a high volume of cars coming and going.

Reed was charged with trafficking in heroin, trafficking in cocaine and violation conditions of release.

A gram of coke is now going for $1500? Wow, prices have skyrocketed!

Never, never trust media

Never, never trust media reports of drug prices. Reporters rarely know what they should be and always accept what they're told, and have no clue if they're wildly off.

I view this willful ignorance as tacit complicity with the failed War on Drugs. Shame.
