ALFRED — A Hiram man has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for sexual assault, abuse and exploitation of a minor.

Jacob E. Fernald, 29, was sentenced Thursday by Justice G. Arthur Brennan at York County Superior Court. The overall sentence handed down was 15 years in prison, with all but seven and a half suspended, to be followed by four years of probation, according to a release from York County District Attorney Mark Lawrence.

Fernald previously pleaded guilty to two counts of gross sexual assault on a child under the age of 14, two counts of sexual abuse of a minor and one count of sexual exploitation of a minor occurring between 2006 and 2008 in Cornish.
