Portland area dentists to provide free care

More than 20 Portland-area dentists will open their offices on Friday to provide free care to low-income people.

“Dentists Who Care for ME” is a one-day event sponsored by the Greater Portland Dental Society.

Free care may include cleanings, fillings and extractions.

Some people may be referred to one of more than 20 dental specialists in the area who also have offered free care.

Event organizers Demi Kouzounas and Barry Saltz said they hope the event will help at least 750 people.
