A Portland motorcyclist was chased through four towns Friday night before he was finally caught at his house on Hobart Street, where he was shocked with a Taser when shutting his house door on officers’ arms as they tried to hold him, police said.

Scarborough police tried to pull over Derek Caruso, 26, at about 9 a.m. on Pine Point Road but he rode off, zipping through Gorham and Westbrook, reaching speeds of 100 mph as he tried to shake pursuit, police said. Police caught up to him as he pulled into his driveway on Hobart Street and grabbed him as he tried to run inside, Scarborough police said.

In his effort to get away, Caruso was slamming the door on the arms of the officers who were holding him and a Gorham officer used a Taser electric stun gun to subdue him, police said.

Caruso was charged with eluding, criminal speed, refusing to submit to arrest and driving with a suspended license.
