Missing lawyer turns up out West

BOOTHBAY -- A Boothbay lawyer who was last seen by his wife on April 1 is no longer being sought by police after authorities confirmed he applied for a job delivering meals to homebound seniors in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Lt. Michael Murphy of the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department said 54-year-old Franklin Poe contacted a police dispatcher last weekend to let them know he was fine.

Maine police called on the public to help them find Poe last month, after his wife and family members expressed concerns about his safety.

Poe was disbarred in February by the Maine Supreme Judicial Court for allegedly stealing funds from a trust whose main asset was the Trailing Yew Inn on Monhegan Island.

Murphy said Poe applied for a position with Meals on Wheels in Salt Lake City, but was turned down after it was determined he gave them a false address.
