Maine government closed Friday and Monday

AUGUSTA -- The Baldacci administration is reminding people that Maine state government offices are closed on Friday, July 3, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

Additionally, nearly all state agencies and offices will be closed on Monday, July 6, as a cost saving initiative in the new state budget. Monday will be the first of 20 state shutdown days over the next two years.

Why not call it like it is?

Why not call it like it is?  20 four day weekends for govt workers over the next 2 years.  With the exception of March and August, the state closure dates all coincide with federal holiday three day weekends.

They should close the doors forever.  Roads weren't paved?  We are pretty much back to riding on dirt roads anyways, and as for drivers licenses.  Who needs them!  We have many people who have them that can't drive, a little plastic card doesn't make you a good driver.

Less government, certainly.

Less government, certainly.  No government, yeah, because all citizens are so fair and honest.
