GRAY - A measure to streamline the town’s budget process won approval from voters Tuesday.

Residents voted 2,633 to 809 to eliminate the town meeting potion of the budget process, with residents voting directly on the council’s approved budget.

Under the previous system, each municipal services budget article was voted on by residents at an open town meeting after the Town Council passed a budget. Then, the budget was voted on by ballot.
