AUGUSTA — Gov. John Baldacci says that three affordable-housing developments in Maine are creating nearly 300 jobs.
Speaking at a housing conference Monday, Baldacci said developments in Augusta and Houlton are generating about 175 jobs. A new seniors' housing development scheduled to start soon in Bangor will employ about 120 people.
The Maine Affordable Housing Conference at the Augusta Civic Center highlighted innovations to address housing issues during the recession. Maine housing programs have been fueled in part by national stimulus funding.

When will Liberals learn that
When will Liberals learn that the jobs they create are just that, short term jobs!!!! they are not careers!! yes you can have a good career as a carpenter, but once those houses are built, how do you think the housing market looks for the next few years? what we need to create is careers that will supply individuals with the means to hire carpenters to build their homes!
Great, so we have morejobs
Building more welfare housing
Building more welfare housing that will have to be subsidized in perpetuity is pushing Maine in the wrong direction toward #1 welfare state, as though #2 was not good enough. The short term benefit will be fleeting while the debt will last forever, oh but that's someone else's debt for some other time so that makes it OK. That's obama for ya.
