Franklin business groups create alliance

FARMINGTON - Seeing the need for building regional partnerships in the greater Franklin County area, four business organizations are working together and have created a new alliance, according to a press release from the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce.

The first major project being undertaken by the Greater Franklin Alliance is a detailed trail map booklet, said Lorna Nichols, executive director of the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce in a press release.

Other organizations involved are the Flagstaff Area Business Association, the Rangeley Chamber of Commerce and the Jay/Livermore/Livermore Falls Chamber of Commerce.

The Alliance is a result of the group’s desire to create a non-profit organization that is not member-based and has a broad reach to all towns and unorganized territories in the greater Franklin County area, Nichols said.

The regional trail map booklet now being developed is modeled after one produced by the Quoddy Regional Land Trust now in its third edition, she said.

The Franklin County booklet will have a comprehensive list of trails and photos of many of them, as well as other important information. The maps will be sold in order to fund additional printings and to allow for revisions and updates to keep the information current, Nichols said.

Maps will be available at various locations throughout the region in order to reach as many people as possible. To help with the project or to suggest future project ideas, e-mail: greaterfrankinalliance@gmail.com.
