Maine State Police have arrested four people in connection with the kidnapping of a New Hampshire man over a drug debt.
Police raided two homes in the border town of Denmark before dawn to make the arrests.
Police charged Joseph Brown, 49, with criminal threatening and charged Constance Brown, 38, the Browns’ son Matthew Peavey, 18 and Richard Barden, 23 with kidnapping and aggravated assault.
The alleged victim, Joshua Mullins, of Conway, N.H. reportedly owed the others money for marijuana, police said.
Police say the suspects kidnapped him from Denmark last weekend, drove him to Conway, then back to Denmark where they assaulted him.
Mullins reported the incident to police after he was treated at Conway hospital, police said.
Troopers were assisted by agents with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
