AUGUSTA -- A prominent figure in Maine’s social conservative movement received a death threat at his former workplace Friday, three days after Maine voters approved a repeal of the state’s same-sex marriage law.
The Christian Civic League of Maine received an anonymous call Friday afternoon from a man threatening to kill Michael Health, the league’s former executive director.
The caller "said he was a gay man who had a gun, and Mike Heath would be his next target,” said Fritz Spencer, editor of the league’s online newsletter.
“It was clearly related to the result of Question 1,” Spencer said, referring to the successful ballot initiative Tuesday that repealed Maine’s same-sex marriage law. “He referenced that rights have been revoked, which means the same-sex marriage law.”
Heath, who largely sat out the campaign over Question 1, stepped down from his Christian Civic League post in September to open a consulting firm. Heath, 48, lives in South China.
Augusta police Sgt. Chris Massey said an officer investigated the death threat.
“But it doesn’t look like he has very much to go off of right now,” he said. “If the number's blocked, it becomes difficult.”

It's heartening to see that
It's heartening to see that the vast majority of posters don't believe this anymore than I do. Evidently the police feel the same.
Just another Mike Heath antic to get the press back to looking at him. He's an endless source of entertainment. As no one will ever be arrested for this (because it's not true), it's a harmless prank that reminds us good old Mikie is back in town and up to his usual stuff.
He's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack.
So, according to people
So, according to people here...
Death threat against a specific person who is against gay marriage: no big deal and a bit of a joke.
General threat on a sign against gays: Hate crime.
I am not surprised about that, nor am I surprised Yes on 1 people are being threatened (after all, the No on 1 leader did vow to hunt down all the Yes on 1 voters and find out where they live.) Look at how those against gay marriage in CA were treated: threats, harassment, violence.... Gotta love "tolerance."
Can't be in the limelight
Can't be in the limelight anymore so he has to make his headlines somewhere!
Come on people. Starting more
Come on people. Starting more scare tatics already?
Oh yeah, I"m sure they are
Oh yeah, I"m sure they are really going to investigate this.
People have short memories.
People have short memories. Heath was the posterboy for anti gay efforts for so long that most still equate him with this effort. Aslo his resignation was not as publized as you think.
I am wondering why if they are reporting a death threat, they printed where he lives. Duh!
Well, now, I'm no detective,
Well, now, I'm no detective, but as it was very highly publicized that Heath 'resigned', just exactly why would this alleged threat be phoned into his old workplace?
I smell a rat. An alleged rat.
