Body found in OOB last month identified

A man found dead along the roadside of Ocean Park Square in Old Orchard Beach on Nov. 25 has been positively identified by Old Orchard Police.

Police said the man, David Cox, 46, of Needham, Mass., had been staying at a family cottage in the Ocean Park neighborhood.

Police said Cox died of natural causes after venturing outdoors for walk. The medical examiner's office has yet to determine the exact cause of death, said Old Orchard Police Detective Brady Coulombe.

The body was discovered by joggers.

Coulombe said Cox's neighbor notified his family when the unknown body was discovered. The family asked police to check on Cox's well being. Police were able to make a positive identification by matching fingerprints from the medical examiner and a fingerprint card.

Coulombe said the department was thankful for the help provided by the public and media.
