MAYFIELD TOWNSHIP -- A Bingham man is being held at Somerset County Jail on $10,000 cash bail, following his arrest on three charges early Saturday morning on Athens Road.
Carl Howell, 25, of 43 Landtrust Road, is charged with operating under the influence, theft by unauthorized use and operating after a license.
Ritchie Putnam, a Somerset County Sheriff’s deputy, made the arrest at 4:13 a.m. Dep. David Cole said that Putnam was responding to a report of a stolen 1990 white Ford Ranger, which had crashed.
Putnam and State Police had been breaking up a juvenile drinking party at a sand pit in Bingham, then responded to assist Piscataquis County, which took the call, Cole said. Putnam took the call at 1:35.
Howell was not seriously injured, but was taken to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan for observation.
