Welcome to the Sunrise Herald with Giselle Goodman, who has been gritting her teeth all morning over a very grouchy web server. Please forgive the delay.

IN THE WEATHER:
At 8:45 a.m., it was 54 degrees and raining in downtown Portland.
It's raining. It is going to continue raining. And won't really stop until the weekend. Welcome to June in Maine.

THE SUNRISE HERALD WEATHER WATCHERS REPORT:
- Jim in Cape Elizabeth says: Good morning one and all.
The rain is just starting to fall via a light sprinkle here in Cape
Elizabeth at 6:15. It sounds like it will be great for indoor projects
the next few days. It is 53 with a northeast breeze of 5 mph. Have a
great day and when the heavy stuff arrives, please use extra care
while out on the roads.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ON THE ROAD:
• The Gorham Bypass
will be closed today and for the next three weeks to install a new curb
at the 202 intersection. There will also be some work done on the
bridge at Flaggy Meadow Road.
The graphic at left should give you an idea of the area in question. Plan your route accordingly.

OTHERWISE: For travel troubles, the links below could prove to be wicked helpful, should you be heading out on the big thruways:
The Maine Department of Transportation website.
The Maine Turnpike Authority traffic advisory website.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ON THE OCEAN:
The
weather is getting icky and so are the conditions on Casco Bay.
Southeastern winds blow 5 to 10 knots, with seas 1 to 2 feet. A chance
of rain reduces visibility to less than one nautical mile. Fog, too.

IN PORTLAND: High tide at 1:15 p.m. Low tide at 7:02 a.m. and again at 7 p.m.

IN THE NEWS:
SCARBOROUGH -- A motorcyclist was badly injured Monday evening on the Old Blue Point Road when his bike went off into a ditch.
According
to a Scarborough Police accident report, speed may have been a factor in
the crash that sent James French, 22, to Maine Medical Center with
serious injuries. As of this morning, he was listed in critical
condition.
Police received a 911 call
that a motorcyclist was down in the ditch near the intersection of Old
Blue Point Road and Milliken Mills Road. French was the only one
involved in the crash. He was not wearing a helmet.
The accident
remains under investigation. A Maine State Police reconstruction team
was called in due to the seriousness of the crash.
