The 10 semifinalists for the Mr. and Miss Maine Basketball Awards were announced Thursday afternoon in a press conference at the Augusta Civic Center. The awards are given to the top senior players in the state.

Among the girls' semifinalists are Messalonskee’s Hannah Dexter and Waterville’s Jen Nale, both of whom reached 1,000 career points this season.

“It’s kind of a crazy thing,” Nale said. “After our last game, it’s like a switch that goes off. The entire four years you play, it’s all about team. I’ve been able to accomplish some really great things. This is the culmination of all of that.”

Nale will play at Colby next season. Dexter said she will likely not play in college.

“I’m going to go to a bigger university,” Dexter said. “If I can play any kind of intramurals, I’d love to keep playing basketball, but not competitively.”

The other semifinalists are Lauren Rousseau of Biddeford, Claire Ramonas of Deering, Kirsten Prue of Edward Little, Abby Young of Greely, Vanessa Sanderson of Houlton, Hannah Fenwick of Mt. Ararat, Christy Manning of Scarborough, and Morgan Woodhouse of Waynflete.

Cheverus senior Indiana Faithfull is one of the semifinalists for Mr. Maine Basketball. Faithfull is playing in the Western Class A tournament after going to court to fight a ban by the Maine Principals’ Association. The MPA had ruled Faithfull ineligible in late January under its eight-semester rule.

Faithfull is joined by Clark Noonan of Bangor, Dom Drake of Brewer, Tyler Chiasson of Dirigo, James Philbrook of Edward Little, Stefano Mancini of Falmouth, Jacob Moore of Hampden Academy, Keegan Hyland of South Portland, and Dominic Borelli and Nich Jobin of Westbrook.
